Obedience in Marriage

Obedience…such a big word and an even bigger task to accomplish at times.

There are many areas in my life where God wants me to be obedient – and marriage is at the top of that list.

Those of you who are married know that this holy matrimony can be a test of our holiness at times!

I’ll admit, the battle between the Spirit and my stubborn flesh is all-to-real!

When patience wears thin, days run long and the to-do list keeps growing, it’s easier to give into my flesh (aka my selfish tendencies) and react negatively. However, this is where God steps in. He prompts us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. (James 1:19)

As wives and keepers of our home we are not to be hostile, unkind or unloving even when we feel unloved, unappreciated or things aren’t going ‘my way‘.

“A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.” Proverbs 14:1 NLT

Ladies remember, being a wife is a gift from God, it needs to be nurtured and watered in order to flourish.

Surrender all to Him… let all that you do be pleasing to the Lord because His approval is all you need.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15 NKJV

Stop & Reflect: What areas of your life does God want you to be obedient?
